January 26 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Virtual Event

In 2012, as we mourned the death of Trayvon Martin, Middle Church’s board declared that we would no longer simply be known as a multi-ethnic, multicultural, fully-welcoming congregation, we would commit to Antiracism in the center of our faith, love, politics and ethics.

On January 19, 2025, from 10:30-11:30a, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his prophetic work, join us in a Zoom Classroom for

What White People Must Do Now:

A critical conversation led by Rev. Amanda Hambrick Ashcraft & Rev. John Janka.

(All are welcome, no matter your ethnic identity.)

In his seminal book, Where Do We Go From Here: Community or Chaos, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote:

“White Americans must recognize that justice for Black people cannot be achieved without radical changes in the structure of our society.”

Join us as we continue our intentional journey toward building antiracist Beloved Community.

After class, make your way to Middle Church for our 3:00p worship celebration.

Stay for a hour with jazz music, great conversation, and hugs with friends.

We believe in the power of Love. Period.

Through Love, we are each created in God’s image and filled with the Divine Spark. No matter whom we love, no matter how we look, no matter where we are on our journey, God’s imprint is in every person of every race/ethnicity, every gender, and every sexual orientation. We believe God speaks many languages and is calling us on many paths to peace—Shalom. We believe that Love put on flesh—brown, poor, Jewish baby flesh—and came to live among us. We believe God lives among us still; we are the living body of Christ. We are the hands, feet, and heartbeat of God. We believe the Spirit of God calls us to freedom, and we are not free until all of us are free.
